"Ein geiler Mix aus Strom und Luft! Macht Lebensfroh“
"A wicked mix of electricity and air! It makes you feel alive"
This is how the renowned musician/composer/arranger Leonhard Paul (Mnozil Brass, Wieder Gansch & Paul, etc. ) writes about the music of the fusion band Mashed Peas.
In 2016 the band was awarded the Joe Zawinul JazzPrize, at that time still under the name FunkXpress. This was followed by their first engagement on an international level, as opening act for Robert Glasper Experiment at the A to Jazz Festival in Sofia/Bulgaria.
With Slightly Different, Mashed Peas took the time to deliver a mature album, which was released as a cooperation between the labels Jazzit:Edition and Bingosound. The album offers an irresistible mixture of crisp, driving, fusion funk and of more contemporary beats
"Dieser Erbsen-Stampf hüpft einem vor Lebendigkeit fast vom (Platten-)Teller.“
"That peas stomping is so lively, it almost comes off your (turntable) plate."
(Club Unterfahrt München).
